How to Enable Folder Protection with OneDrive on Windows 10

When your files and folders are saved to OneDrive, they can be accessed from
anywhere. Your data are always safe in OneDrive if anything happens to your
device. OneDrive is free online storage that you get in-hand with your Microsoft
account.

With Microsoft OneDrive, you can save your files online, and you will be able to
view, browse, share, and upload them from any computer, phone, or tablet. Now,
you can set up protection for the files and folders you think important in
Windows (your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders) when using any
OneDrive account; either your personal, work or school OneDrive account.
In this article, I will show you how you can enable folder protection on your
Windows PC.

What’s New!

If any ransomware threat is found on your device, Windows Defender is going to
inform you about the danger. This will help you eliminate the ransomware from
the device. Also, you are going to have more options to recover your OneDrive
files back to the state they were in before any attack took place.

Bonus

For Office 365 Home subscribers, Office 365 Personal subscribers, and OneDrive
for Business users, that also includes OneDrive Files Restore, you can use it for
restoring your OneDrive to the same place where it was before but in time within
the last 30 days. Windows Defender detected date and time is going to be pre-
selected in Files Restore. This makes the process simple and convenient to use.

What’s more?

You will now learn how to enable folder protection with OneDrive for getting
developed ransomware protection of your essential files in your Documents,
Pictures, and Desktop folders on Windows 10.

Follow the simple steps given below:

1. Click on the OneDrive icon on the taskbar notification section.

2. Then click on the More option, and head to the Settings.

3. Click on the Auto Save tab in your Microsoft OneDrive settings, after that,
tap on the Update Folders button.

Note: if you don't find any Update Folders button in OneDrive Settings, you are
clearly not eligible for folder protection, and the rest of these guidelines are
more likely to be futile for you.

4. Now, in the Setup protection of important folders dialog box, you will need
to choose the folders you want to protect.

5. And then tap on the Start Protection button.

Note: If you want, you can close the dialog box while your files are syncing to
OneDrive. Or else, if you want to watch your data sync, you can tap on the
        View Upload Progress option.

6. As soon as the files finish syncing to OneDrive, we can say they're
protected. In addition, now they can be accessed from anywhere in
Documents, Desktop, or Pictures using any other device.

7. Hence, when you protect your Desktop folder, the items on your desktop
travel with you to your other device where you're running your OneDrive
  account.

That’s it. When completed, simply tap on the OK button in the OneDrive
settings. Your files and folders are now protected and handier with OneDrive.

Thank you for reading this article; I hope this information is going to be helpful to
you.

Easiest Way to Record Screen on Windows 10

You may wish to record your screen for various purposes. It could be for a video tutorial that you wish to share on YouTube, or to send your friend the killer moves you pulled off on the latest game. Whatever your reasons for recording the screen may be, they come very handy in many ways. Someone who knows how to explain steps and procedures over a recorded screen knows that screenshots pale in comparison to the efficacy with which you can explain these steps. Unfortunately, recording your screen can get really messy with having to install third-party apps and giving them control and access. However, if you have a Windows 10 device then you have hit the screen recording jackpot. Windows 10 has a built-in feature that allows you to record video clips up to 2 hours long!
Neatly tucked inside the Xbox app, Game DVR, originally meant to record videogame footage, can also record your device screen. Whether it is Microsoft Word or any internet browser, Game DVR will record the screen for you. Unfortunately, Game DVR has limited features considering that it can only record one window or app at a time.

Here are the steps to use Game DVR:

  • Open the Xbox app. Click on the Start menu, go to All Apps and click on Xbox. If this is the first time you are opening the app, it will require you to set up some settings.
  • Once the Xbox setup is complete, open the Game bar by using the shortcut keys (Windows key + G).
  • Check out the settings of Game bar by clicking on the Game Bar’s gear icon on the Xbox app. You can adjust the recording time, impose limits on the duration of the clips, and also feed a list of programs where you can turn on Game bar by default.
  • When you attempt to open the Game bar in any window or application, you will receive a pop-up asking you if you wish to open the Game bar, check the “Yes, this is a game” box. Check the box even if it isn’t a game since Game DVR also works on other applications.
  • Click on the circular red button to begin recording the screen. Remember that since Game DVR does not record the entire screen and instead it only records the app/window that is active, make sure that the what you wish to record is the active window.
Note: The Game DVR also does not record the mouse movements.
  • To stop the recording, once again press the shortcut to open Game bar (Win + G) and click on the Stop button.
  • The newly recorded video clip will be visible in the Xbox app. You can access it by clicking on the Xbox button located on the Game bar or by the Xbox app through the Start Menu. You will notice a series of features depicted by icons on the left-hand side of the Xbox app.
  • Click on the sixth icon (that is, a film strip in the background of an Xbox controller) to open the Game DVR menu.
  • You can see all your recorded videos here. You can even carry out basic editing such as renaming the clip, trimming it, etc.
Now that you can easily record your screen on your Windows 10 device, go ahead and get recording. Who knows, you may turn out to be the next Twitch sensation or YouTube’s Tutorial Guru!

How to Integrate Chrome and Firefox Activity to Windows 10 Timeline?

One of the significant new features in Windows 10 1803 is the Timeline which lets
the user to easily view and go back to what you have actually been doing on your
computer system. It is a more vigorous version of the Task View (Alt+Tab), and it
will also allow the user to go back up to 30 days of history easily. Though it works
great with the Windows application and also with some third-party app, there is a
conspicuous lapse. There is no any other web browser support other than for
the Microsoft Edge. So you cannot even resume your browsing activity from the
Windows Timeline in almost two most popular browsers. But now you can easily
do it with the help of a browser extension for both Firefox and Chrome.

Steps to Integrate Chrome and Firefox Browsing to Windows Timeline

As the process of installation is always effortless; you just need to install it like
you would have any browser add-on or the extension. And after successfully
installing the extension, now you will need to sign in with your Microsoft account
via the application on every device which you want to sync.

Subsequently, your browsing history will sync with Windows Timeline
automatically, just like Microsoft Edge does.

The next amazing feature of Timeline is that it can easily push open tabs on your
web browser from one Windows 10 device to another. And for this follow the
below given steps:

1. Click on the Extension icon
2. Select “Open this page on another device” from the menu tab
3. Click to select the device to push the page
4. Now, the page will automatically open up on another machine

However, the extension is created by the Grid Entertainment’s Dominic Maas who
is also the developer for the Sound Byte; it’s a Windows 10 UWP app only for
SoundCloud. But still, the extensions are in Beta and also free to use for the users.
So, always keep in your mind that everything might not work correctly
sometimes. And Maas will note many more other features which will be easily
added in the future such as the blacklisting sites. It will thwart you from the
random searches and from cluttering up your Windows Timeline. This type of
extension adds a great ability for the Windows Timeline that the official
developers should have to add to their browsers precedent.

Know What Happened When We Put the iOS 12 beta on an iPhone 5S

The iOS 12 beta has one of the boatloads of features that seizing your attention which includes Memoji, improved notifications, and group FaceTime calls.
Therefore, one of the most important changes is the performance increases under the cover, particularly for the older devices such as iPhone 5S.
Recently, Apple had made some big claims during the time of WWDC keynote when the Apple first revealed the iOS 12. By using the example of an iPhone 6 Plus we will now discuss the features-
  • The application was launched up to 40 percent faster
  • The Keyboard speed comes up to 50 percent faster
  • And the slide to take a photo is over 70 percent faster
Theoretically, these features of 12 beta appear to be the biggest improvements. But the iPhone 6 Plus is not even the oldest device which can run on the iOS 12. In fact, that’s only the iPhone 5S.
Consequently to know how the latest iOS performs on the oldest phone, take two 16GB iPhone 5S models and then do the factory reset. And now it was one running on the iOS 12 public beta and the other iOS 11.4.
However, we even don’t even claim to be a scientific test, but only an anecdotal account of how fast the OS will perform when performing the real-world tasks. Always try to keep in mind that iOS 12 is still in the public beta and performance might change between now and also the final release in this fall.
Though launching applications like Safari and Mail were always noticeably quicker in the iOS 12 beta, the only difference in others includes Weather and Maps which was hardly visible.
Recently, Apple’s claim that during the keynote it was the share sheet comes up twice as quick when the system is already under the load. And we also found that the share sheet will come up much quicker than it did on the iOS 11, even when there was no any other application were open. However, these types of the result weren’t always reliable after running it numerous times in a row; mostly the iOS 11.4 caught up to the beta.
However, the startup time was the category where the iOS 12 beta fell after. The iOS 11.4 was loaded much faster and also was ready to go approximately 9 seconds before iOS 12.

Role of Security in the “Shift Left” Application Security

As the dependency of the users on the software’s continues to grow then, the organizations are increasingly taking a DevOps and agile approach to the software application development programs. Consequently, the operation and the development teams have assimilated, and now the developers play a vigorous role in managing the post-production of the software.
However, to meet the demands for a quicker time to the market, then the development teams are “Shifting Left” security which is moving it further down to the software development lifecycle with the developers that are increasingly being tasked with the building secure software from the outset.
As a result, the DevSecOps process will require developers to take greater responsibility only for securing the software’s as well as for building it, and therefore the consideration must be given as to what this means for the members of the security team.

Always Try to Think like Builders

The most significant advantages of this approach are that through the employing Scrum teams, multi-disciplinary teams with the accountability for one application, one piece of an application, or one micro-service, the needs for a handoff between the teams can be avoided. These Scrum teams are responsible for the planning, coding, performance, testing, uptime and now with the introduction of the DevSecOps, they’re also going to be responsible for the security purposes.
For succeeding in this environment, the very first thing the security team will have to do is to start thinking more like the builders than the breakers. With the progress of software development concluding in the fully automated pipelines which are used in DevOps,
Now, the security experts must consider that they can easily create a process that will deliver to the correct outcome from the get-go, rather than the discovering vulnerabilities and risk which can further down the line.

Always Test Early and Test Often

The security professionals should need to work with the development teams to recognizing the earliest point that manual processes, such as threat modeling, and manual testing which can be effectively implemented to avoid the lengthy remediation before the deadline of delivery.
The Manual testing should be done early in some small batches only on features that require it, rather than the multiple Scrum teams which are having to test a lot of functionality a few days before when the software is due to be released. And also the threat modeling can be only done when there is a design in place; the code even doesn’t necessarily need to have been written fully.
Create a Team of Security Champions
Though the security teams cannot be everywhere at the same time, the majority of companies having a large ratio of developers to the AppSec experts or might be greater than others. It is a very necessary aspect of the DevSecOps model so that many of the organizations haven’t provided their developers with the adequate security training.
However, in the longer term, every Scrum team should include some knowledgeable security person that might be team’s security champion who should meet with the organization’s security experts on a very regular basis.
The presence of some security champion will avoid the situations in which the development team is unaware of the security implications of a particular piece of coding.
And the security champion should also identify that when a critical piece of code has been written badly or maybe something hasn’t been correctly fixed, but it requires some expertise that to bring in from the outside development team. After the identifying these issues, the security champion can easily escalate the situation and also call the security team at the accurate time.

Long Live the Security Team

One move towards the DevSecOps doesn’t mean that the role of the security team is deceased. Subsequently, now they need to lead on creating a culture and also processes that enable the shared accountability. That is working with their colleagues in the development team, as they need to work out with the shared goals, metrics, reporting and measurement that both the teams are going to hold themselves.
By doing this, they will allow their organization to securely deliver the applications at a speed that the app economy essentially requires.

Steps to Enable Automatic App Updates on iPhone and iPad

When you or anyone as frequently obtains behind on installing any of the app updates on an iPhone or iPad, then you may have to appreciate features in the iOS Settings which allows the App Store to update the apps on the device automatically.
However, the automatic Updates for applications will periodically discover and also easily find the available updates for any of the installed iOS apps on an iPhone or iPad, and then you need to download and install those app updates automatically on your iPhone or iPad. It will take some user involvement which is out of the updating process, as apps will update themselves whenever the updates become available. The Automatic app updates in iOS are one of the great settings for the people who need to maintain the newest versions of apps on their devices, but who regularly fall on manually launching App Store to install the latest updates directly themselves.
For the automatic application updates to work in the iOS, the iPhone or iPad which should be on the latest version of an iOS software system, and also the devices must have an active internet connection, as without the internet connection updates won’t be downloaded or checked.

Steps to Enable Automatic App Updates in iOS

Here are some settings for enabling the automatic updating of iOS apps, and it is almost the same on iPhone and iPad:
  1. Click to open “Settings” app on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Click to go to the iTunes & App Store.
  3. Under the Automatic Downloads section, search for Updates and clasp that switch to ON position.
  4. Now, exit from the Settings option.
Finally, the Automatic Updates for iOS apps has been successfully enabled, and whenever any of the updates are found in the App Store, then the App Store will automatically install itself on your iPhone or iPad that setting has been enabled.
Although the process is all handled in the background of your device and also away from seeing update indicators on any app icons themselves, and it is rather faultless, and most of the users won’t even notice the updates which are happening behind the scenes.
Once the update feature is enabled, then you will pretty never see the intimidating numerical red button on the App Store icon which is used to notify the number of apps that are waiting for some updates. Instead of the updates which just install themselves when it is possible for all automated and easiest way.
For sure you can easily choose to disable the automatic app updates feature of iOS, and then manually you need to update all iOS apps on the device, or even update apps separately on the basis of individuals, that how to handle the iOS App Store updates is up to you and also how to use the iPhone or iPad.
It does not even apply to install the iOS system software updates, though another same feature lets you to automatically install the iOS system software updates as they appear at an iPhone or iPad, which can be as useful for some of the users.
